Emily Baerlein is a certified school counselor. She joined the HKHS Counseling Department in the fall of 2014. Before coming to HKHS, she worked in real estate and as a School Counseling Secretary. Emily obtained her Bachelor of Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia, and her Masters of Arts in School Counseling from University of Saint Joseph. . Emily lives in West Hartford.

Rachel is a certified school counselor and joined the HKHS Counseling Department ins 2018. Rachel was raised in Newington where she currently resides. She received her Bachelors from CCSU in Psychology and Criminology and her Masters in School Counseling from the University of Saint Joseph. In her free time, she enjoys mountain biking, baking, and spending time with her two cats. Rachel is excited to be a part of the HKHS team!

Darren joined the School Counseling Department in 2016. He is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University's School Counseling program where he also received his Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology. Darren loves to cook and holds a culinary degree from The Culinary Institute of New Orleans. He cooked at several prominent New Orleans restaurants and helped open several establishments in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Darren helped coach the soccer and lacrosse teams. Darren is both honored and excited to be back at HKHS as a full time counselor and is ready to get the year off to a great start. Darren lives in Middletown with his wife.

Alexandria Stone is a certified School Counselor. She joined the School Counseling Department in the fall of 2016. She is a graduate of Providence College’s School Counseling program and received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut. Before coming to HKHS, Alex worked in the Region 4 school system as an interim school counselor as well as a paraprofessional. Alex has always enjoyed working within the field of education. Alex resides in Niantic.

Blair is originally from Nebraska; where she attended Creighton University and received a BA in Psychology with a minor in English. During her undergraduate course work, she found the field of school psychology and was drawn to this career path because of the collaborative process of making sure all students are getting the best possible education. Blair chose to attend graduate school at the University of Connecticut where she received her MA/6th degree in School Psychology. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and watching movies.

Cate DeLuca is a certified School Psychologist as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is a graduate of the University of Hartford where she earned her Masters degree in School Psychology, She also earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and her sixth year in Child Clinical Counseling. She also works as the Assistant Coach of the softball team. Cate enjoys running, espically in the summers along the beach, She resides in Glastonbury.
